Why We’re Called Dipsea

The annual Dipsea Race isn’t legendary because it’s smooth or predictable. It’s legendary because it isn’t.

Since 1905, runners have faced 700 stairs, climbing over 1,300 feet of elevation, and a twisting trail through the Northern California hills where the terrain makes the rules. Success requires stamina, humility, and adaptation when the trail doesn’t care about your plan.

We named our firm Dipsea Capital because investing is the same. It’s not about speed. It’s about staying upright when the market throws sharp turns and steep climbs. It’s about knowing when to push, when to pause, and when to adjust your footing without losing momentum.

We’ve managed with remarkable consistency and extremely low correlation, not because we predict every move but because we built a process that holds up under pressure. Like seasoned runners, we think in probabilities, prepare obsessively, and stay grounded in what works. We don’t chase noise. We don’t need to win every sprint. We endure.

The Dipsea is hard. So is investing. That’s why the name fits.
